A man who betrays his country cannot serve the world genuinely

Impartiality and fairness are the linchpins of a given organization. Above all, these values should be the core principles of international organizations. In what could be said a violation of international norms, some agencies of the United Nations have been serving the interest of one party as witnessed in many instances.

The UN agencies have been biased and corrupt in discharging their mandates. These corrupt practices have been laid bare in relation to the international bloc’s treatment of Ethiopia. In some cases, the wrong misdeeds are not only ascribable to bad apples; they are also attributable to years of misconduct.

Contrary to the major objectives of the UN body, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom has been siding with his former crime in partners, the terrorist TPLF clique. The head in many instances has been making wrong statements and feeding the international media outlets. He along with other pawns has served as an agent of the treacherous TPLF group at the international level.

Dr.Tedros has long been accused of committing serious human rights violations and ethnic cleansing against certain groups in Ethiopia before he was appointed to his current position. As if his previous crimes have been enough, the Director-General continues to engage in unlawful practices that would amount to treason.

From leveling false allegations against the Ethiopian government to empowering the dying terrorist TPLF group, Tedros has been using his noble position for encouraging terrorist activities. As the international community fails to stop these nonsenses, Tedros has been doubling down his attack against his country crying crocodile tears. The organization has been tight-lipped when facilities have been destroyed by his former bosses. Turning a blind eye to the gruesome atrocities committed by the terrorist TPLF group, Tedros is leading the ongoing disinformation campaign against the Ethiopian

government.

Against the backdrop of the international silence, Ethiopians and the Ethiopian government have been protesting against the misdeeds of the Director-General of the world’s highest heath body.

This week, the Ethiopian government wrote a letter to the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia stating its objection against the Director-General of WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom’s moral, legal and professional standing that threatened WHO’s organizational integrity.

Although Ethiopia had nominated Dr. Tedros for the highest office in the global health body, he has not lived up to the integrity and professional expectations required from his office and position, the letter said.

He has been interfering in the internal affairs of Ethiopia, including Ethiopia’s relations with the State of Eritrea, the letter says, adding that he continues as an active member and supporter of TPLF that is proscribed as a terrorist group by the Ethiopian parliament.

According to the letter, Dr. Tedros uses his office to advance his political interest at the expense of the interest of Ethiopia, despite hopes that he would cease his misconduct eventually.

Dr. Tedors encourages the TPLF in his media engagements and celebrates what is presumed to be a military success of the group, besides engaging in a selective outrage where he discriminately addresses the humanitarian concerns in Ethiopia, the letter adds.

Through his acts, says the letter, he spread harmful misinformation and compromised WHO’s reputation, independence, and credibility which is evident from his social media postings that openly endorse the terror perpetrated by the TPLF against the Ethiopian people.

According to the letter, Dr. Tedros has abused his position by assigning staff in WHO’s country office in Ethiopia with a task of executing the plot to inflate the emergency level in Ethiopia, from 1.8 million people to 3.8 million, to warrant humanitarian intervention. “This misrepresentation of facts is used to misinform the UN Security Council.”

In a manner that denigrates the integrity of the UN system and the work of other offices, Dr. Tedros uses his platform to mobilize the UN community against Ethiopia besides providing technical and financial support to the activities of the TPLF, the letter adds.

The Government of Ethiopia finally urges the WHO Executive Board to commission an investigation on the Director-General to identify his misconduct and violation of his professional and legal responsibility as provided under the Standards of Conduct for the International Civil Service, staff rules and regulations of WHO, and Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of WHO.

In an interview with The Epherem Madebo, a political analyst said that the gov¬ernment’s withdrawal of support informs the global community what Tedros has done against the people of Ethiopia, which nominated him for the highest office in the global health body. Any support to Tedros’ re-election for WHO leadership should also be relinquished.

He elucidated that the director-general lacks impartiality, competence, accountabil¬ity, and transparency and has been overtly supporting and encouraging TPLF that is proscribed as a terrorist group by the Ethio¬pian parliament. Tedros is also an active member of the criminal faction and part of a consorted and coordinated effort to smear and overthrow the current democratically elected government of Ethiopia.

He went on to note that since the outbreak of the northern conflict, the WHO Chief’s activity is not something expected from a person who leads such an esteemed international organization. He has been encouraging and working for the TPLF against the Ethiopian people.

By the same token, an American political analyst Andrew Korybko said Tedros’ track record confirms that he behaved as a partisan activist in support of terrorist-designated TPLF instead of an impartial technocrat presiding over the

world’s most important health body like he has supposed to be.

Korybko further highlighted that the WHO Chief accused of continuing to remain a member of terrorist-designated TPLF that is responsible for bringing untold suffering upon millions of people in northern Ethiopia as a result of war.

“Tedros used false assessments to mislead the UN Security Council and he used the platform to mobilize the international community against his homeland on top of providing financial and technical support to the TPLF. This is why Ethiopia is urging a full investigation into his misconduct.”

The reasons are enough to relinquish Tedros of his duties. The WHO and its UN organizations would do well to immediately prioritize a full investigation into his misconduct. Suspending the WHO chief from his duties would be Tedros Adhanom the current WHO director-general and TPLF member, actively engaged in supporting TPLF by putting the global pandemic to the side, which is supposed to be his top priority, according to information obtained from Change.Org.

It is to be recalled that the terrorist TPLF group is a terrorist organization that started a war on November 3, 2020, by attacking the Ethiopian national defense force northern command and instigating violence against civilians in Afar and Amhara.

TPLF launched an operation called “Tigray mothers” against the people of Amhara and Afar on July 12, 2021. On the same day Tedros Adhanom was posting Tigray’s mother’s photo on his Facebook page account with the title “no comment “, by doing so he was sending a coded signal to the TPLF combatants and supports, and declaring the start of the military operation.

There is overwhelming evidence that shows Tedros’ active engagement with the terrorist TPLF clique. Hence, the international community particularly the UN should hold the director-general responsible and take punitive measures against the man who is damaging the reputation of the organization.
