Adwa photo exhibition opens to public

ADDIS ABABA– A photo exhibition that displayed Ethiopians victory in the Battle of Adwa opened to the public at Aberhot Library yesterday.

Opening the exhibition, Culture and Sport Minister Kejela Merdassa said the exhibition showcased Ethiopia’s unique place in the anti-colonial movement and testified its ability to repel aggression. “Our forefathers and foremothers paid sacrifice not only for their motherland, but they fought for the total independence of Africa. We are gratefully proud of this history.”

Noting historical and cultural collections have been displayed in the exhibition, the minister indicated written documents and artifacts (both tangible and intangible relics) and narration of the Battle of Adwa are also part of the show. The young generation have to make overwhelming attendance to learn from the selfless sacrifices the people of Ethiopia paid for independence.

Kejela encouraged all concerned to make an effort in getting a proper place in the world for the noble sacrifices paid by the Ethiopian patriots.
