ADDIS ABABA—Addis Ababa City Administration announced that the construction of the Adwa Zero Kilometer project aiming at commemorating the victory of Adwa and patriots has reached 75 percent completion.
Deputy Manager of Mega Projects Construction Office with city administration Engineer MiressaLikisa told Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA) that the office has been working from dawn to dusk to finalize the construction of the project.
Explaining about the project, he said that the construction of the project has been taken place on 3.3 hectares of land and it contains 11 different buildings.
As to him, the project contains museum, amphitheater, recreational centers, mega hole that has a capacity to host up to 1,000 people, parking and other classes used for various services.
The deputy further said that the project is helpful to exhibit knowledge, skills and experiences our forefathers/ mothers used to utilize to be victorious over external invaders thereby defending the sovereignty of the country.
He said, “The construction of the project is underway at an outlay of 4.6 billion Birr, and apart from bedecking the city, the project would benefit all people of the country and states through socializing the history of our forefathers and foremothers.”
Apart from serving to commemorate the victory of Adwa, the project will create massive jobs and generate income through serving as the center of tourism.
Concerning the construction performance of the construction, he said that the outbreak of COVID-19 and other factors held the project back and didn’t get finalized within the set timetable.
Currently, the construction of structural works of the project is completed and electrification and other related tasks have been undertaken, he added.
