ADDIS ABABA – GETFACTet group has indicated that some two billion USD is required to restore the schools which were vandalized by terrorist TPLF.
As thousands of schools were destroyed in Ethiopia, nearly two million students are left with no schooling or without access to proper education, it sated. GETFACTet group in its twitter page stated that schools found in Amhara and Afar were served as military camps for terrorist TPLF and they were vandalized. As result, many students are now without access to education. Hence, rebuilding of these schools in the two states requires two billion USD, and rehabilitation efforts are desperately needed though H.R.6600 will hinder restoration efforts.
As to Getty Images Photographer Jemal Countess’s twitter, Mersa Elementary School in North Wollo was severely vandalized and its physical view is disgusting since it was serving as military camp of terrorist TPLF.
A video published by the GETFACTet group stated that in Amhara State, 4,107 schools (3.823 primary and 284 secondary schools) were damaged, accounting for 42 percent. In Afar, 203 schools were damaged (32 percent completely), and over 1,000 schools were damaged in Tigray.
“There is some progress to rebuild the vandalized schools as three million USD is allocated by the Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund (EDTF) to rebuild 4 schools. The EDTF has signed a MoU with Ministry of Education to rebuild 4 damaged schools in Afar and Amhara states 2 in each. The schools are expected to be completed within a year,” it stated.
The Ministry of Education calls on community to provide support in the rebuilding of damaged schools via telebirr or SMS by dialing 9222. The Ministry signed Memorandum of Understanding with Ethio-Telecom on fundraising to rebuild the damaged schools, as the video stated.
Recently, Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education disclosed that it needs ETB 19 billion (384 million USD) to rebuild and restore three higher learning institutions of the Amhara State, namely Wollo, Woldia and Mekdela Amba Universities.
