ADDIS ABABA- The national committee, which is set up to oversee preparations for hosting the African Union, Ministerial and Heads of State and Government Sessions, has assessed preparation procedure, appreciated the progress and urged concerned bodies to finalize the remaining tasks.
AU Summit and Ministerial Session Committee Chairperson Ambassador BirtukanAyano, appreciated the progress so far and called on the committee members to expedite the completion of the remaining tasks.
Ambassador Birtukan, who is also Foreign Affairs State Minister, said that over 20 stakeholders have tabled preparations in their respective sectors including safety and security issues, accommodation and services as well as health facilities, especially COVID-19 testing and related protocols.
The Preparation is in progress to provide guests with all-inclusive services including that of the Ethiopian Airline, hotels and convention centers complying with all COVID-19 protocols. As to the Committee report, centers at the airport, at AU and in the hotels are set up to get guests tested for COVID-19. Accordingly, all concerned bodies will be allowed to enter AU by showing COVID-19 test results, it was learnt.
Applauding activities done by all institutions regarding the AU summit, Amb. Birtukan stressed that Ethiopians should use the opportunity to promote Ethiopia’s image and host guests with their genuine spirit of hospitality.
The Ministerial Session will be held on 02-03 February 2022, and the 35thordinary Session of the A.U. Assembly is scheduled to take place on 05-06 February 2022.
