According to MoFA, Demeke has discussed issues of common concerns and continental issues with his counterparts from Comoros, Morocco, and Tunisia in separate meetings.
MoFA Spokesperson, Ambassador Dina Mufti, who attended the sideline meeting, told journalists that the three countries are eager to further consolidate their respective bilateral ties with Ethiopia.
Hence, Ethiopia wants to boost its relations with Morocco through agriculture, tourism, and technological sectors. Besides, the two countries have agreed with the operationalization of the common commission that they have already established previously.
Ethiopia is also keen to work with Morocco and Tunisia particularly with regard to Grand Ethiopian Renaissances Dam (GERD). Amb. Dina recalled that Tunisia and Morocco had a misunderstanding concept on the issue of the GERD that was reflected when sided to Sudan during the Arab League summit held last year.
Nevertheless, now Morocco and Tunisia are ready to correct their wrong understanding by further strengthening the relations with Ethiopia.
Ethiopia and Morocco have also reached an agreement to correct the one-sided report of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights to investigate the human rights violations and abuses in Afar and Amhara states.
