ADDIS ABABA– Situations in the Debre Birhan, the seat of the North Shewa Zone of the Amhara State, has been greatly normalized owing to the elimination of disorder that was created by TPLF’s invasion of the area, the town mayor said.
The mayor Kassahun Embiale told local media that the victory the Ethiopian joint forces gained over the rebellious group in enabling the public to pursue daily lives without fear and businesses and industries have also resumed services in the pre-war status.
Noting TPLF forces attacked and caused immense damages in seven districts of the Northern Shewa Zone during their brief stay in the area, Kassahun indicated over 94 industries and other investment establishments were affected by the raid. Currently extensive activities have been carried out to rehabilitate the public and restore the damaged infrastructure with a view to keeping the promising flow of investment to the historic town.
Debre Birhan has a huge potential to become the industrial hub and the administration has been tirelessly working to promote the town’s image thereby attracting both domestic and international companies. The war had an adverse impact on the flow of investment and due attention was given to restore the business activities to their pre-war status.
The mayor further highlighted that the town administration has been paying due attention to address the investors’ demand for amenities and it has been providing land at competitive lease price and incentivizing and encouraging those engaged in the export trade.
“Apart from restoring business and investment in Debre Birhan, equal consideration has been given to supporting people that have experienced post-war psychological trauma and depression and helping them to lead happy and productive lives.”
