ADDIS ABABA– Leaders of the Ethiopian Diaspora committees in Berlin and Nurnberg, Germany expressed keen interest to mobilize the community’s participation to rebuild institutions that were damaged by the terrorist TPLF clique in Amhara and Afar states.
Speaking to local media, Berlin National Support Coordinator GashawWoldie said that the community has been carrying out various activities to support development back home. In Particular, they have donated ten thousand Euros to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam since the reform government took power.
“Great forum has also been prepared to introduce Ethiopians and Eritreans well one another with a view to helping them standing together for a common goal- fighting against external intervention. In Berlin, advocacy forums are mainly prepared, and the response of the Diaspora community is recorded beyond expectation.”
Though the participation of the Diaspora community is well underway in Berlin, it is sometimes hard to run activities as conveniently as possible since it is a Civic association, prevalence of bureaucratic red tape and myriads of individual interests, he added.
The coordinator further noted that thus far over 13 thousand Birr was collected by an online platform out of which 12 thousand was sent home.
By the same token, Public Relation of the Ethiopian Community in Nurnberg Terefe Fikadu said that Ethiopia has been challenged by local enemies that are working in tandem with foreign enablers.
“Recently, I visited Ethiopia and observed that the massive damage that TPLF has caused in different parts of the country have been overlooked by the corporate media and they have made attempts to cover the faction’s destruction. Therefore, my visit aims to expose the Western media lies and counter their attempts to put all the blame on the federal government.”
As to him, working in cooperation for different institutions at home and abroad as well as the Diaspora community will bring about significant change in rebuilding the infrastructure and ensuring sustainable peace. “If we would like to make this ambition a success and come up with a visible impact, we are expected to create a comprehensive and strong organization for Ethiopians in Germany.”
Terefe emphasized the destruction TPLF has caused in Ethiopia is very immense and what the community has done so far is not adequate enough thereby triggering the active involvement of the government, the Diaspora, and media. “We are willing to and capable of discharging the project that we are going to be given.”
