Ethiopian coffee export hits over 100.62 mln. USD in November

• Secures 525.6 mln. USD over the past five months

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority announced that it has secured 100. 62 million USD exporting 25,937.32 tons of Coffee, Tea, and Spices even though it planned to generate 50.12 million USD by exporting 17,191.21 tones last month.

As learnt from the information the Authority sent to The Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA), it has obtained 100.62 million USD, and attained much more than its plan.

Authority Public Relation and Communication Director Sahlemariam Gebremedhin said that the performance has shown a big progress and export has hit high records compared to the past similar period.

 Over the past five months, export performance including the month of November, the Authority has succeeded525.6 million USD out of exporting 138,552.16 tons of Coffee, tea, and spices. The performance is higher than the past similar period when 51,298.87 tones (58.79%) in terms of additional revenue and 244.50 (86.98 percent) million USD in terms of revenue generated.

As to Sahlemariam, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Belgium are the three top Ethiopian coffee destination countries in that order. In this regard, Germany has shared 32,889.92 (25 percent) tones and generated 109.79 million USD (12 percent), Saudi Arabia has shared 19.287.87 (14 percent) tones and  helped Ethiopia secure 66.31 million USD (13 percent) and Belgium shared 13,252.26 (10 percent) tones and 55.02 million USD (11 percent) is generated over the past five months.

The remaining ones Japan, U.S., South Coria, Italy, China, France, and Taiwanranked four up to ten in terms of being Ethiopia’s coffee destination in their respective orders. Those destination areas share 83 percent in terms of amount and 82 percent in terms of revenue generated to Ethiopia. All ten Ethiopia’s coffee destination areas have shared 77 percent in amount and 100 percent in terms of additional revenue compared with that of the past similar period.
