ADDIS ABABA—Ethiopian Diasporas residing in various countries have continued supporting Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in homeland.
Ethiopian Embassy in the U.S. disclosed that in Ethiopian Diaspora contributed over 72,000 USD in an event organized in NC state for IDPs .
Ethiopian Ambassador to U.S., Ambassador Fistum Arega stated in his twitter page that the incidents like COVID-19, heavy snowfall and other factors did not stop members of Ethiopian Diasporas attending the fundraising event in the NC state which is known as a powerhouse in science, technology, engineering and maths.
He said, “The task forces setup by youth have become an exemplary for others to fundraising, and your efforts are as encouraging as other supports granted to the displaced fellow citizens at this critical time. Foreigners of Ethiopian origin who are living in U.S., thank you for your distinctive generous support.”
Similarly, Ethio Canadian Network for Advocacy and Support (ECNAS) members have also provided support, about 88,000 Canadian Dollar, to Afar state for the displaced ones. ECNAS leaders have arrived at the place in person and handed over the support.
It is to be recalled that ECNAS has been providing the country with close to 5 million Canadian Dollar responding to the urgent call for support since its establishment in November 2020.
