Experts to investigate economic damage in Amhara, Afar : MoF

ADDIS ABABA – Teams of experts have been sent to investigate the economic damage caused by the terrorist TPLF group in Amhara and Afar states, according to Ministry of Finance (MoF).

MoFState Minister Eyob Tekalign (PhD) told local media that although some institutions have conducted assessment on the damage caused by the terrorist group in the two states, the total damage has not been fully assessed. He added that the teams of experts have been sent to the two states.

Upon completion of the study, a reconstruction and recovery plan will be prepared and the reconstruction work will be A carried out , as to him. On the other hand, the ongoing reconstruction works are being carried out in a coordinated, national, and institutional manner, he also indicated.

The development partners must be involved in the reconstruction activities as the rebuilding work requires a huge resource mobilization, as to the State Minister.

Members of the Diaspora community are partaking in the reconstruction work, he added. According to him, the inter-ministerial task force is preparing a recovery plan, and secretariat has been formed under the Ministry of Finance.

Eyob further reported that after the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) left Tigray, a recovery plan was being prepared for the Tigray state to begin rebuilding, but the TPLF expanded the war to the Amhara and Afar states.
