ADDIS ABABA – Menschen für Menschen Foundation disclosed that it will provide damaged health institutions in Amhara State with medical equipment at an estimated cost of 25 million Birr with a view to helping local community get medical care and alleviating grave health problems.
Menschen für Menschen Country Representative Yilma Taye told The that the organization has prepared to deliver the medical equipment soon to eight damaged health institutions that are identified to be provided with essential medical devices.
The foundation has recently handed over 40 million Birr humanitarian aid to Afar State Internally Displaced Peoples (IDPs), which is expected to serve 40,000 people for a month. The humanitarian supplies included wheat flour, edible oil, rice, lifesaving nutrition and other food items, it was learnt.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Yilma said that the organization will continue strengthening the accessibility of relief supply and IDP srehabilitation tasks. Though the organization has been implementing integrated rural development activities across the country, it has been providing victims with relief supply at the time of natural and made disasters.
As to Yilma, over the last 40 years, the foundation has made over six million people beneficiary by investing over six billion Birr, and it has a long time experience in humanitarian and development activities in Ethiopia.
Organization’s Honorable Ambassador Athlete Major Haile Gebreselassie on his part said that the cooperation of all parties is crucial for accessing humanitarian aid and rehabilitating IDPs in Amhara and Afar States, and supporting the IDPs is the responsibility of all people, he stated.
