• It appreciates Ethiopia’s political, economic reform
ADDIS ABABA – Kazakhstan has awarded the Jubilee Medal to former President of Ethiopia Mulatu Teshome (PhD) for his contributions to the development of relations between the two countries.
The president of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded the Jubilee Medal to fmr. President Mulatu Teshome (PhD) for his contributions of strengthening bilateral ties of two-sides during his presidency and while he was a first non-resident Ambassador of Ethiopia to Kazakhstan.
Mulatu received his medal at a ceremony yesterday from Kazakh Ambassador to Ethiopia Barlybay Sadykov.
Speaking on the granting ceremony, Mulatu thanked Pres. Tokayev on the award mentioning that the two-side relations have vast potentials to utilize to benefit their respective peoples.
He also underlined the need for focusing on economic diplomacy to help investors benefit from the two-side relations.
For his part, Sadykov said that Kazakhstan’s president awarded a medal to Mulatu for his contribution to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
He added that Kazakhstan and Ethiopia celebrated 10 years of establishment of diplomatic relations. In the last ten years, the countries closely cooperated and strengthened ties.
Mentioning as Ethiopia is a key partner of his country in Africa, Sadykov expressed satisfaction in the current bilateral political cooperation adding his country’s intention to intensify cooperation to a full-range bilateral and multilateral scales to protect each other’s common interests.
Regarding economic cooperation, he said the ties in this regard has not yet received due development. He indicated that a working group has been established and recently held its first meeting following a series of engagement between the two countries’ chambers of commerce and industry as well as businesspersons.
Kazakhstan highly appreciates the political and economic reforms carried out by the government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed as well as the country’s role of and contribution in strengthening regional and international security. It fully supports the policy aimed at preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ethiopia, he added.
