ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has extended best wishes on the celebration Fiche Chembelala, the New Year festival of Sidama people.
Fiche Chembelala, a New Year festival of the Sidama people began yesterday in Hawassa city.
It was learnt that Oromia State chief administrator Shimelis Abdisa and other senior government officials arrived in Hawassa City to attend the festival.
The Sidama people observe the movement of the stars to celebrate the New Year. Fiche Chembelala was registered by UNESCO as world’s intangible heritage seven years ago.
