• Inaugurates new Ministry of Defense Headquarters
BY ABDUREZAK MOHAMMED
ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) said the terrorist TPLF clique has been persisting on its provocative behavior and preparing to commit another round of mistake not learning from its previous errors that led to its downfall.
The Premier made the above remark on Sunday while inaugurating the new headquarters of the Ministry of Defense. Abiy clarified out that the terrorist group has made six major mistakes during the last three years and continued in its reckless behavior to commit the seventh one. Ethiopia’s future action solely depends on the way the faction behaves.
As to him, TPLF’s first mistake was its stubbornness to receive the pardon offered by the Ethiopian people and accept the national reform after it was ousted from power by public protest. TPLF’s defiance to the federal government’s ruling to postpone general elections due to the coronavirus pandemic and its brutal attack against the Northern Command of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) are also major mistakes committed by the outlaw group.
By the same token, the faction invaded Amhara and Afar states when the ENDF withdrew from Tigray with a view to controlling Addis Ababa and toppling the legitimately elected government by force.
Meanwhile, regarding the federal government’s recent decision to drop charges of some prisoners, including members of the terrorist TPLF, the Prime Minister indicated that rewarding the winner and forgiving the loser is part of Ethiopia’s long history
“During this time, we learn from our forefathers and foremothers not only to fight bravely but also to show mercy to those who have been defeated. Our forefathers liberated Ethiopia not only by war but also by peace.”
The one who forgives and pardons is always victorious. What Ethiopians need to learn from their ancestors is that they must not only fight valiantly but also show mercy to surrenders, losers, and enemies, the Premier stressed.
Noting the termination of the trial of several prisoners provoked widespread outrage among Ethiopians, he highlighted that the decision will put Ethiopia on a solid footing, safeguard its interests, bring lasting peace, and reduce Ethiopia’s enemies. “The decision will enable us to repeat our victory on the battlefield peacefully and prove that we are the offspring of our forefathers.”
Abiy, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the ENDF also awarded different types of Medals of Honor to members and officers of the national army for their outstanding achievements in the battlefronts. He extended gratitude to all the members of the ENDF who have fought bravely and provided competent leadership to ensure the country will not fall apart.
On the occasion, the Premier, accompanied by other high-level government officials, inaugurated the new state-of-the-art headquarters of the Ministry of Defense. The five-story building that has been built on an area of 13,000 square meters has 700 offices and other facilities including conference halls, research centers, library, a well-equipped data center, among many others.
