GONDAR—University of Gondar (UoG)has officially established Public Diplomacy and International study centre and held Nile (Abbay) singing(chorus) launch event.

During the launching event, UoG president yesterday said that the center for public diplomacy would play pivotal role in fighting against foreign pressures regarding GERD construction and disinformation related to terrorist TPLF aggression.

UoG president Asrat Atsedeweyn (PhD) further said that Ethiopia needs effective public diplomacy to safeguard its national interest at large.

According to the president, the UoG has introduced the public diplomacy initiative program aiming at raising citizens’ awareness about serious concerns with regard to sovereignty and national interest.

Asrat said: “Though Abay or Nile is the source of Ethiopia, some western countries and their media have seriously opposed the construction of the GERD to attain their hidden interests over the past many years.”

He ,therefore, said public diplomacy would play a significant role in achieving the national interest of the country via exposing the fabrications, misinformation and fake news produced by the western media to the international community.
