ADDIS ABABA – The current generation must stand together to repeat the victory of their forefathers/mothers against divisive forces, Patriotic Father noted.
Speaking to the Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA) in connection with today’s celebration of the 81th Anniversary of Patriots Victory Day, Patriot and a member of Ethiopian Patriots Association Dagnchew Temesgen said that, in its history Ethiopia has been registering numerous victories against foreign aggressors through standing together without being divided along religious, ethnic, gender and other lines.
He stressed that during the colonization era though Ethiopian fighters used to use primitive weapons to defend their country from the well-armed aggressors they have been registering repetitive victory because of unique love for their country and strong unity of the people.
At this moment some internal and external forces have been striving to erode the unity between ethnic and religious groups to fragment the country, setting different fragmentation strategies.
As to him, all ethnic groups found in the country sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of the country voluntarily and there was no problem of coexistence in the history of Ethiopia. However, these days the country is being challenged by lack of stability created by extremist forces that operate in ethnic and religious lines in service of those who have their own different political interests.
He added that such extremist groups have been engaging in distorting the golden history of the country.
So Ethiopian youths of the country need to stand together through denouncing the destructive efforts of such groups to ensure peace and security in the country and repeat the history of their forefathers/mothers, the patriot added.
