ADDIS ABABA—A Political- Economic Analyst for Africa stated that some U.S. congressmen would like to put H.R. 6600 and S.3199 draconian sanctions against Ethiopia with a view to driving a wedge across the Horn of Africa.

Having a stay with local media, Political- Economic Analyst for Africa, Prof. Lawrence Freeman said that since Ethiopia is the most significant political nation in the Horn Africa Region, U.S. and Western need to have a lapdog administration in Ethiopia to troll the region twisting arms as they would love and get their geopolitical demand served well. True, he said the west geopolitical demands include control of the waterways from the Indian Ocean to the Gulf of Eden to the Red Sea on the way to the Suez Canal.

However, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Ph.D.) has been independent minded and a nationalist trying to coordinate his country with Eritrea and Somalia. He said that from the standpoint of the geopolitical faction, they have a desire to control countries considering the action of the Prime minister as dangerous move. Hence, they planned to weaken Ethiopia and its current reform administration to achieve their political goal using ethnicity as a vehicle to drive their interest well.

He said that the U.S. and some western countries want to include terroristTPLF into the future government structure in a bid to make destabilizing Ethiopia a success. Opposing the two bills, he said that these are draconian; they only hurt the people of Ethiopia and have nothing to do with peace, prosperity, stability and unity.

President Biden and the U.S. State Department are aware of these bills and will use them as threats against the Ethiopian people and the Prime Minister if they do not accept what the U.S. tells them to do against nation’s sovereignty.

As to him,the Biden administration is not willing to accept though terrorist TPLF officially admitted to start the war in Tigray; instead they have repeatedly accused Ethiopian government of inciting the conflict.

“From the very beginning of the conflict accounting for a year and half, the U.S. government has relentlessly been working to undermine the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali (Ph.D) He said, “The sanctions are designed not to help Ethiopia rather to hurt and kill Ethiopians ast hey are Policies to increase poverty in Ethiopia.

Hence, the people of Ethiopia should understand that their very existence, livelihoods, stability are under the attack of these sanctions and the bills would put pressure on the international finance institutions not to lend money to Ethiopia,” he added.
