ADDIS ABABA– Terrorist TPLF has committed destruction against culture and sport institutions that worth value over 400 million Birr while it used to invade different parts of Amhara and Afar states Ministry of Culture and Sport said.
As to the information obtained from the ministry, the ministry held meeting with stakeholders on the rehabilitation of the destructed infrastructures and facilities to rehabilitate the destructed resources of the sector based up on investigation. To this end the ministry undertook study to identify the level and type of damages along with their solutions.
The source indicated that the study and restoration plan conducted by the research team have been presented at the meeting. Speaking at the meeting the ministry’s minster Kejela Merdassa said that 460.7 million Birr worth of museums, youth centers, monuments, government offices, sports equipment, and infrastructure and other cultural and sports facilities have been destroyed by the terrorist group in the two states.
He stressed that the terrorist committed a bulky of threat against the sector through damaging the aforementioned infrastructures and enterprises. He noted that the ministry has been striving to rehabilitate the destructed resources in collaboration with different governmental and Non Governmental Organizations.
The study revealed that the recently completed the great and beautiful Sheikh Alamudin Stadium in Woldia city in the North Wollo Zone of the Amhara state is among the damaged sport enterprise and it urged that the damaged areas would be rehabilitated in the short, medium, and long term with the participation of various stakeholders.
